My absolute favorite type of family session to photograph is not the one where the location is perfectly scouted, the wardrobes of every family member meticulously coordinated, and children bribed (though I'm so not above that) to smile for the camera. What I want to shoot more and more of are true lifestyle sessions during which I get to hang out long enough that the kids forget I'm there and I can capture the type of images that I get of my own family. Life's simple, unscripted moments are the ones I long to remember when my children are grown, and I know that's true for other parents, too. I'm so happy I got to spend a few hours with the Howard-Scott family and make these special photographs for them. I've known them since Jane was just a year old and Henry was just a baby bump, and our kids draw pictures for each other and I just love them to pieces. This time of life with a 3.5 year old and just-turned-two year old is unlike any other.
